Downtown Value School is open to all eligible students, regardless of ability, disability, or place of residence.
Applications for the upcoming school year are accepted beginning each July. If the number of applications exceeds the number of available seats, California charter school law requires that a public lottery be held.
The lottery takes place on the first Friday in January each year. Students who are not selected in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list. You do not need to be present at the lottery to be considered for admission.
Enrollment preference is given to siblings of currently enrolled students and children of Downtown Value School staff. To receive sibling preference, applications must be submitted before the lottery. Sibling applications received after the lottery will be added to the waiting list in the order they are received.
Before enrolling, families will be invited to participate in a parent information session and student orientation. Participation in these events is encouraged but does not affect a student's admission or enrollment status.
For support with creating a SchoolMint account or submitting an application, please visit the school in person or call the office for an appointment (213) 748-8868.
You may also download and complete a PDF application (below) and return it to the school.
