Immediately after the tour, Ms. Santana decided she wanted to support Value Schools. She recently edited an anthology, All the Women In My Family Sing, and provided selected stories from the anthology to students in Ms. Bryant’s English class at Central City Value and Mr. Lopez’s English class at University Prep Value. After the students read the stories, she visited classrooms and brought one of the contributing authors, Michelle “Mush” Lee, with her. Ms. Lee is the Executive Director of Youth Speaks, a spoken word performance, education, and youth development program. Ms. Lee performed a selection from her writing and discussed the reading with students.
We are currently discussing additional opportunities where Ms. Santana can continue to enrich and give back to our community.
